Can you give a one to two sentence summary of your book for those who haven't heard of it?

Make and Takes for Kids highlights the best of each month of the year with 50 projects to craft with kids. Each project is centered around an upcoming holiday or season.

What was the hardest part of writing this book?

The hardest part of this book was keeping ahead of my deadlines, along with running a blog and household. As I'm sure it's true with most people, I was always in a crunch at the last minute.

 What was the best part?

My favorite part was shooting the images of my crafts with my amazing photographer, Nicole Hill. It was fun to watch the process after dreaming them up and creating them, seeing them come to life.

As a mom, do you find that your children are a source of inspiration for your projects?

My kids are definitely a source of inspiration. They keep me crafting. We've done enough crafts together that they are often the ones coming up with the ideas and projects on their own. It's fun to watch their creativity grow.

You also have a degree in Early Childhood and Elementary Teaching.  How has that helped shape your projects and/or your book?

It was a big part of my book as I decided to list the "learning objectives" for each project. Having taught in a school setting, my perspective was always to know what the children would be able to learn after having completed a project. With Make and Takes for Kids, I've listed a few of the skills children can learn as they craft and create. This helps caregivers get a better feel for their child's learning and helps them know crafting isn't just playtime.

Are you dressing yourself or your children up in awesome Halloween costumes this year?  What are they?

I will probably dress up as a witch, again. It's just too easy. My girls are a lady bug and bee, and my son is going to be Thor! Should be a fun night.
