Tell us bit about yourself, your company
DPD: My name is Rachel J Lieberman and I am the Peach in Danger Peach Design. I live in Everett, Wa with my 10 year old adopted schnoodle Oscar. One of my constants in my work is embroidery and that is (forgive the pun) the running thread in most of my work whether it is art pieces or accessories.
When you were young, what did you want to be when you grew up?
DPD: When tucking me in one night my Dad asked me that very question and my answer was a singer like Michael Jackson. But I didn't mean when I grow up, I meant right then at 9 just like him!
Is there a certain person, place or object you draw inspiration from?
DPD: I find a lot of inspiration in faces and in capturing moments that interest me. I think that most of us have an emptiness inside and we do many positive and equally negative things to fill that space. In my work I try to explore those feelings with touches of humor and honesty.
What’s your favorite thing to do to kill time? Any secret Internet time wasters, guilty pleasures?
DPD: I watch a lot of BBC programs and my current favorites are Pulling and the IT Crowd. You gotta check them out, so funny!
Where do you like to go when you just want to get away? A beach, a mall, a market? What’s your favorite type of spot to go unwind.
DPD: I love taking mini road trips to just about anywhere. A scenic drive always relaxes me and ending up at a beach would be the perfect ending for me. Vintage hunting is a big favorite for me too, I could look for those treasures anytime!
If you only had one more meal to eat on this world what would it be? (It can be several courses)
DPD: That's tough! I have and undying love of pizza, it's not fancy but it really is my favorite. And tiramisu for dessert! Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!
What do you love most about UCU’s Summer Show?
DPD: Every UCU show is new and different and has so much to offer people even if they have attended before.
