Tell us a bit about your company, yourself.
TCC: Susan and I started This Charming Candy in 2009 when we realized that corporate America was for suckers (pun intended). Seriously, we had an opportunity to see if we could make our dream real. There are other people out there who like fun desserts but are bored with pedestrian flavors. Our unique blends are creative without being mere try-it-once curiosity stunts, and we love delighting our customers with our creations.
When you were young, what did you want to be when you grew up?
TCC: Kate: A Nobel-prize-winning chemist. I was a weird kid.
Susan: a writer, I think. I was a serious reading junkie.
If you had no boundaries, what project would you pursue?
TCC: Running our own candy company. :) We'd make it grow faster, I think.
What's your favorite thing to do to kill time?
TCC: There's so much to do, that we're not sure we ever have time to kill! We both play Sudoku on our phones and we both watch TV to wind down in the evenings - Kate got Susan into Psych (funny!) and Susan got Kate into Friday Night Lights (so good!). On the web, Go Fug Yourself is always good for a laugh and A Softer World is Susan's favorite web-comic.
If you only had one meal to eat on this world, what would it be?
TCC: Kate: The spaghetti my mom would make at my grandparent's. It was the same recipe that she made at home, but it tasted different - better - when she made it in my grandmother's kitchen.
Susan: I'm not sure about a full meal, but I often daydream about a wild mushroom soup I had in the Zakopane region of Poland, on a trip I took with my beloved great-aunts and great-uncle. I've never had its equal.
What do you love most about UCU's summer show?
TCC: We love both shows, but the winter one can be extra hectic! Customers and vendors are more relaxed at this show (while still having a lot of energy).

TCC: A booth full of beautiful and savory candy and a couple of people who are ready to make other people happy with sugar on a stick.
