Tell us bit about yourself, your company.

JB- My name's Jill. I've been drawing, designing and making things my whole life, but being a professional about it for 11 years now. I specialize in drawings of native flora and fauna, paper stationery goods, and utilitarian sewn goods!

When you were young, what did you want to be when you grew up?

JB- I wanted to be an artist, have a dog, and live in a cabin in the woods near a beach. I've accomplished the first two, and working on making the last 2  reality in the next few years!

Is there a certain person/place/object you draw inspiration from?

JB- The Pacific Northwest, and nature in general.

If you had no boundaries: money, time, space, support, etc. what dream project would you pursue?

JB- I’d travel locally, then nationally, then internationally to learn about and depict all the various flora and fauna and their ecosystems.

What’s your favorite thing to do to kill time? Any secret Internet time wasters, guilty pleasures?

JB- Sleep. I love sleeping and taking naps.

Where do you like to go when you just want to get away? A beach, a mall, a market? What’s your favorite type of spot to go unwind.

JB- I've been known to drive to the coast or forest for a few days on a whim for r&r or just to work in different surroundings. In the past i used to be more indulgent and hop on planes to other cities to do the same - Tokyo is an amazing place for single female travelers - but now i stick close to home.

If you only had one more meal to eat on this world what would it be? (It can be several courses!)

JB- That would really depend on what time of year you're planning my imminent death - i eat pretty seasonally! I'd invite my friends for a last meal, potluck style. And someone would bring berries and pears.

What do you love about most UCU’s Summer Show?

JB- The excuse to come to Seattle! Besides seeing all of you, I also love morning runs along the waterfront. And this time I'd love to visit some good restaurants and shops - any suggestions?!

Tell our readers what they should expect to see when they stop by and see you at UCU.

JB-I'll have a few more new poster designs, a few new chronicle books goodies, and, of course, my new drawing nature journal!

Lastly, would you like to submit anything for our fabulous blog giveaways ahead of the show?

JB- How about a nature drawing journal! photo and description here:

I've long been a fan of Jill Bliss! I hope you enjoy your visit to Seattle. May I suggest a sandwich at Paseos if you are jogging along Golden Gardens?

That is clever. My kids have adventure journals from REI and love to go out and catalog their finds.
