Northwest Folklife Vendor Spotlight: Urban Farm Naturals
We are so excited for Folklife next week! I was lucky enough to catch some of our fabulous vendors for some short interviews which I will be featuring as we count down these final days.
Let's kick things off by learning a bit more about the fantastic Urban Farm Naturals:

Tell us a bit about yourself. Where are you from? How did you get started doing what you do?
UFN: Born in Brewster Washington (there! I admitted it) & grew up in Eastern Washington. My husband Jeff and I took a soap making class one day and after that I couldn’t stop making soap. I actually dream about soap when I sleep (yes-really!)
What would we find in your refrigerator right now? Be honest! :)
UFN: a jar with a 6 month old Kombucha mushroom, 3 IPA’s, leftover chicken & rice, slimy green salad, & lots of organic yogurt that I can’t get my kids to eat.
Who has been most influential/supportive in your craft?
UFN: My best friend Jeff (also known as my husband), has been the most supportive along with Kolt and Darby (my kids), who are amazing. They are always so level headed and encouraging.
If you could be a superhero, what would you want your superpowers to be? These can be crafty-powers too!
UFN: My superpowers would be to FLY! (Without the actual airplane)
How do you find inspiration and/or get out of any creative slumps?
UFN: Crank up the Gloria Darlings & just start making things!
Aside from being a creative master, what other hats do you wear?
UFN: I’m a commercial pilot & flight instructor, home school Mom, & soon to be farmer.

If you could trade places with any other person for a week, famous or not famous, living or dead, real or fictional. With whom would it be?
UFN: OK, it has to be Gandhi.
Is there a handmade item that you cherish most? If so, tell us about it.
UFN: I have a teeny tiny ceramic chicken that was my great grandmothers that sits on my kitchen window sill that I adore.
Is this your first time at UCU?
UFN: No, we have done other shows. I LOVE UCU and can’t wait to get some cool stuff from the other artists (I save up & do most of my shopping at UCU).
Tell us something unknown about you/your company... do you have any secret talents? Special skills? Know a foreign language? Let's hear a random/fun fact!
UFN: I use to teach Indonesians how to fly airplanes. One of my students was a young lady who became only the 4th female from Indonesia to obtain a pilots license.
