Tell us bit about yourself, your company.

RG- Ugly Baby Shower Art was born one day when I was bored in the shower (this is not to imply that I take super long showers - I'm just easily bored) and when I got out I announced to my husband, Doug, that there should be something that you can look at in there for Pete's sake. He agreed and we set about trying to figure out how to make our vision a reality. I couple of happy accidents steered us toward some great materials and after 18 months we finally figured out how to secure the suction cups to the art pieces.

When you were young, what did you want to be when you grew up?

RG- When I was young I wanted nothing more than to do theatre professionally. I even studied theatre in college. Now - I can barely sit through a whole performance (Theatre Schmeater shows excluded). Sorry theatre: I guess you were just a 25 year phase.

Is there a certain person/place/object you draw inspiration from?

RG- We draw inspiration from humor. And glitter. But mainly humor. Much of our work is created only to try and crack each other up. The fact that other people also think it's funny is really just a happy accident. We're both stand up comics (that's how we met) and Shower Art gives us yet another outlet to be sarcastic and horrible. Yay!

If you had no boundaries: money, time, space, support, etc. what dream project would you pursue?

RG- Without boundaries we would probably just spend a lot of time eating. Boundaries are good.

What’s your favorite thing to do to kill time? Any secret Internet time wasters, guilty pleasures?

RG- If I have any extra time, I fill it with projects and small businesses. I submit as proof:

  • Unanimous Craft: http://www.unanimouscraft.com - A directory of resources for indie business owners. I built it using Drupal (my other true love)
  • EtsySaver: http://www.etsysaver.com - A place where people can find coupon codes for Etsy shops. Shop owners can post their Etsy coupons for free.
  • bARTer Sauce: http://www.bartersauce.com - An experiment in trading for art and odd objects. Whatever I get - I trade for something else. Everyone I trade with has to tell me a story. I have been documenting this project for over five years.
  • Non Profit Comedy: http://www.nonprofitcomedy.com - I co-produce a stand up comedy show that benefits a different non profit (or good cause) each week at The Comedy Underground.

Sooooo... what's this free time you speak of?

If you only had one more meal to eat on this world what would it be? (It can be several courses!)

RG- I'm not sure what my last meal would be but I'm pretty sure Doug would go with a turkey and havarti sandwich on sourdough with mayo, lettuce, tomato and the tiniest bit of red onions.

What do you love about most UCU’s Summer Show?

RG- I love UCU's summer show almost as much as I love the winter show. I guess the thing I love most about it is that - because it exists - I have to wait less time before I can do another UCU show.

Tell our readers what they should expect to see when they stop by and see you at UCU.

RG- You should come by our booth at UCU because our Shower Arts are pretty funny (if we do say so ourselves) and sometimes people spend a good lot of time reading them all and laughing out loud. So even if you don't find anything you want to buy - you'll have fun.

Lastly, would you like to submit anything for our fabulous blog giveaways ahead of the show?

RG- Yes, we'll submit a set of postcards based on Shower Arts.
