Tell our readers a little bit about yourself and your work.

My name is Alexa Allamano and I make delicate wire-wrapped jewelry using natural gemstones, sterling silver and 14K gold fill metals as well as pop-art button rings and Knit Beards. I have always been crafty, making jewelry since I was a child and I have been running Foamy Wader since 2007. I have always loved working with my hands which makes sense as my last name translates to "By Hand".

What are some sources of inspiration for your work?

The seaside is a huge source of inspiration as I use a lot of aquatic hues. I also love incorporating gemstones with organic elements like Moss Amethyst, Rutilated Quartz and Labradorite.

What was the best thing you did with your summer?

I did a LOT of travelling this summer working the craft fair circuit in NYC, LA, SF and Atlanta but my favorite part was my trip to Baltimore with four other Seattle-based crafters to participate in the Buyers Market of American Craft trade show. I had an absolute blast with Marlo of Marlo & Natasha Studios, Heidi of Haute Goat, Kim of Pepo Park and Sarah of Tutta Lou Press. It was sweltering in Baltimore and exhausting working the show but such an amazing experience!

Are you showcasing anything new at the winter UCU show?

I will be debuting a collection of scaled-down cluster necklaces using my original wire-working technique. Half the size and price of the original one-of-a-kind designs but with 100% of the style and impact!

What are you most excited about for UCU?

I cannot wait to do my holiday shopping! My mom will also be a first-time vendor selling her RoCocoa chocolates and I could not be more proud of her.
Alexa has kindly offered to giveaway two $30 gift certificates to her shop, Foamy Wader.  To win, just leave a comment on this post.  Exciting, isn't it?
