Vendor Interview and Giveaway- MOSS Handmade

Tell our readers a little bit about yourself and your work.
My name is Lady Diana (really!) Schreiber. I grew up in the Philippines and moved to the US in 2000. I have a strong background in fine art but graduated with a graphic design degree. I've been crocheting since I was 7 but never really enjoyed making hats or blankets. I love miniature objects and antique jewelry. MOSS is where all 3 intersect (crochet, miniscule things and jewelry).
What are some sources of inspiration for your work?
Most of my inspiration comes from materials really. I love contrasting textures for example, grass and concrete. I named my jewelry from one of my favorite textures of all time, the ground cover that is moss. I'm a very tactile person. I love touching fabric, paper and wood. Color is huge in my designs. I am partial to vintage hues like teal, mustard and coral.
What was the best thing you did with your summer?
It wasn't one big thing but a combination of little things that made my summer awesome. Like street fairs, barbecues, being outside, berries... etc. In the NW it rains a lot, so just being able to enjoy the sun for an extended period of time is just so awesome.
Are you showcasing anything new at the winter UCU show?
At the beginning of this year, I've been experimenting with hand dying my crocheted lace pieces. Before, they were all just ivory so I'm very excited to bring more colorful pieces at the show.
What are you most excited about for UCU?
I am excited to get out of state! MOSS is still a very young business (think toddler) so being accepted to UCU is kind of a big deal. It's going to be nice to see what other people are doing outside my neighborhood. I am expecting to be amazed and inspired by the talent in Seattle. Also, I get to eat cow chip cookies!!
Guess what? You can win the acorn necklace featured above!! Just leave a comment on this post. A winner will be chosen at random and you can pick up your prize at the show.
