Location:
Seattle Center Exhibition Hall at the Seattle Center
305 Harrison Street Seattle, WA 98109
The Exhibition Hall main entrance is located on Mercer Street right across from 3rd Avenue.
Directions: www.seattlecenter.com/transportation/directions.asp
Parking:
On-street parking is available (though often metered on Saturday, it's free on Sunday) on the streets surrounding the Seattle Center, but is limited. There is a parking garage directly across the street from the main doors through which you will be loading where you can remain parked all day.
Setup/Take Down
Check-in/Load-in will take place exclusively through the main Exhibition Hall doors, from Mercer Street. Mercer Street is a 3 minute passenger loading zone, but you should be able to get away with unloading as long as you do it quickly, 30 minutes or less. There is a ramp that leads down to the doors from street level, making the front entrance fully accessible with a dolly or hand cart.
Vendor Check In: When you arrive at the main hall doors, you'll see signs clearly marking the Vendor Check-In door. Please make this your first stop so we can direct you to your booth, and let you know any up-to-date info you'll need. Unless pre-arrangements have been made, all vendors are responsible for supplying their own tables, chairs, and displays. If you pre-ordered a table from us on your application, please keep in mind that the table dimensions are 8' wide by 30" long.
Load-in :: Friday, December 2nd, from 2:00-8:00 p.m.
We will have our doors open for any vendors who wish to take advantage of loading in early. You can take as much time as you need to set up, but we will ask that you leave by 8:00 so we can all get a good rest for the big weekend!
We will do our best to have volunteers on hand to help assist in the unloading process, but please plan on having another helper, or find another vendor to buddy up with, just in case there's mad rush of vendors, and not enough volunteers to go around.
We understand that it can be a bit of a cluster during this time and it's just the way things go. We are unable to use the back loading area per rules from the Seattle Center. We apologize for this inconvenience but it's not our rules...we just have to follow them. With that being said, helping your fellow vendors and being patient will get ya' through this.
If you do not wish to take advantage of the Friday load-in, you will be allowed into the Ex Hall on Saturday morning, at 9:00am -- no earlier. Doors open to attendees at 11:00am, so keep in mind that this option gives you only two hours to set up your booth.
Load-Out
Sunday, December 4th, doors close to the public at 5:00pm, and tear-down begins immediately afterwards. Early tear-down will not be allowed under any circumstances. We appreciate your cooperation in breaking down your booth quickly and efficiently -- we are all exhausted by the end of the weekend, and have a lot of extra things to attend to after you all leave. We appreciate your help in getting us out of there as swiftly as possible.
You will leave the same way you came in. Help will be on hand, but bribing your friends is not a bad idea either!
UCU's Epic Volunteers
While it's true that our street team are beyond awesome and will most likely help whenever they can, they are busy helping with many tasks that make UCU what it is. They have pre-scheduled jobs to do and are real live humans with needs of their own.
Feel free to kindly ask for reasonable help, or a bathroom break, etc., but be sure to show them some love and patience. (If you have a special need of some kind, please let us know asap and we'll try to pre-arrange some ways to accommodate you.)
Electricity
Only vendors who indicated on their application a preference for electricity, and who paid for this service on their invoice, will have electrical access.
Internet
There is no public wireless access in the Exhibition Hall. However, many carriers get excellent service, so feel free to use this as a way to process credit cards if you are set up for it.
Security
There will be security guards manning the doors to the Exhibition Hall during all hours of the show. Additionally, the hall will be locked and secured overnight, so there is no need to pack up your booth or take your merchandise home with you Saturday night.
Food and Beverage
We will have several food vendors selling their yummies at the show, but most will be sweets. The Exhibition Hall concessions stand will be open during show hours (11am-5pm Saturday/Sunday), which has lunch items and beverages available for purchase. (UCU has no control or influence over the selection and/or prices of the concessions stand.) That being said, we encourage you to pack some food and water. It might take a few minutes away from your sewing, stuffing, or packing but you'll be happy you did!
Fire Codes
A copy of the City of Seattle Fire Department Fire codes for trade shows can be found here. Please make sure that your display conforms to the guidelines laid out in the fire code.
Attention Canopy Users
Due to various fire code issues and our wanting to avoid any issues, there will be no roofs allowed on the top of any canopies.
Booth Sharing
A number of you have applied to the show as "booth shares," meaning you'll be splitting your space with another vendor, and that's great! We have a specific protocol for this, which involves both parties applying separately, and booth share status being granted at jurying.
However, this is the only process through which booth shares are allowed. Be aware that we will have a system in place at the show to ensure that all booths contain only the work of the accepted vendor(s).
This means two things: a) vendors may not "sublet" part of their booth space to another vendor without our knowledge, and b) booth displays may not include the work of any artist or crafter besides those accepted to the show.
We hate to have to rule with an iron fist about this, but it is only in the spirit of ensuring fairness to all applicants of our show, as the jurying process becomes larger and more competitive every year.
Thank you for your cooperation! We hope you understand and respect where we are coming from.
