Katie is the creative force behind Bathing Beauties Beads & Backcountry Beader located in Missoula, MT. Originally from right outside of Philadelphia, Katie moved out to Montana at the age of 18 prepared to eat ramen (not the fancy kind) and sleep on top a U-Haul on her road trip across the country. Beading has been a passion for her since the young age of 5 and it took off at age 9 while on a family trip to Arizona where she sold her first beaded bracelet. Gemstone chips of amethyst and all… for $9. That. Was. It. She was hooked. Beading has always been what Katie considers “home” no matter where she is, if beading is happening, she is home. She loves teaching others to bead and make jewelry, talking about beading and jewelry design, and beading in the strangest of places, like on a train ride across the country in the smallest seat ever or in the middle of nowhere backpacking in the mountains underneath millions of stars with wolves howling in the night. She has been known to howl back. Katie takes pride in knowing she is an avid outdoor enthusiast that has belly fat and thick thighs and welcomes everyone and anyone to hike and backpack with her sometime.
