Hi! I’m Kailyn, the artist behind Thistlehop Studio @thistlehop.studio. I carve quirky block prints inspired by life in the Pacific Northwest and stamp them onto cozy, colorful goods. From days on the water to garlic fries at a ball game, my designs are rooted in the weird and wonderful moments that make this place feel like home. Every piece starts as a sketch, gets carved into a block, and is hand-stamped in my little studio on upcycled or sustainably sourced materials. Whether it’s a pizza-loving otter or a collection of oyster shells, I hope my work brings a bit of joy and connection to your everyday
Most of my designs start with something I see, hear, or experience out in the wild, whether it’s a curious critter on a hike, a foggy paddle across the Sound, or just a funny moment with friends. The Pacific Northwest is full of charm, weirdness, and small joys, and I try to capture that in my work. I’m also inspired by the idea of making something lasting and personal, prints that feel like little high-fives from the world around us.
I’m proud that I finally put myself out there and started selling my work. It took a while to rise above the fear and hesitation, but I’m so glad I did. Every design still starts as a sketch, gets carved by hand, and is stamped one at a time in my studio. Hearing from folks who connect with the prints—or come back year after year for a favorite—reminds me why it was all worth it.
I’ll be unveiling some new otter bandanas as well as a brand new line of hand stamped overalls/jumpsuits!
Thistlehop Studio is a one-person operation, so everything you see, from sketching and carving to stamping and packing, is done by me, with a lot of care (and probably a podcast or a TV show playing in the background). I work with upcycled and sustainably sourced materials whenever I can, and I love that block printing lets each piece be a little different, a little imperfect, and totally one of a kind. I’m also just really glad to be part of a creative community that supports small makers, and it’s a joy to connect with folks who find meaning or laughter in what I make.
